Today’s Devotional Title:
Let Prayer Lead Your Response

Psalm 62:8
“Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.”

When emotions rise—anger, disappointment, or offense—our first instinct is often not prayer, but reaction. We want to respond immediately, defend ourselves, explain everything, or vent our feelings. Yet God’s Word invites us to do something different: pour out our hearts to Him first.

Prayer is not a way to avoid problems; it is a way to align our hearts before responding to them. When prayer leads, our response becomes calmer, wiser, and more reflective of Christ’s love. We learn that not every emotion needs to be instantly expressed—some need to be surrendered to God first.

God is a safe place for all our emotions—not only the “good” ones, but also anger, disappointment, and confusion. He is not surprised by what we feel. In fact, He desires that we come honestly before Him, before those emotions control our actions.

To let prayer lead your response means giving God space to work between emotion and action. That is where spiritual maturity is formed—not by suppressing emotions, but by directing them toward God.

What To Do?
1. When emotions arise, pause and bring them to God in a short prayer.
2. Pour out your heart honestly before Him—no masks.
3. After praying, ask yourself: What response would honor God?
