Seeing the Unseen

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and the needy.”

— Proverbs 31:8–9

Not everyone who is hurt is able to tell what they have experienced. Some choose to remain silent because they are afraid, some smile because they don’t want to bother others, and some are used to bearing everything alone. In the midst of the crowd, they are often unseen.

Today’s Word of God reminds us that love is not only about what is visible on the surface, but also about sensitivity to those who are neglected. Proverbs 31:8–9 calls us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and defend the weak. It is not just a matter of speaking, but of having the courage to act and bring justice through our attitudes and decisions.

Jesus set a very clear example. He saw those who were ignored by society: the sick, the marginalized, the rejected, and those considered unclean. He did not just pass them by. He stopped, paid attention, and took action. Seeing the Unseen means that we are willing to open our eyes and hearts to see with love—not with judgment, but with genuine concern.

What to Do?

1. Notice the people around you who are often silent, marginalized, or seem to be struggling.

2. Show your concern through a simple act: a smile, a greeting, or listening.

3. Pray that God will give you a sensitive heart to see and love those who are neglected.
