Today’s Devotional Title:
A Classy Way to Love Your Enemies
“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.”
— Leviticus 19:18
Facing bullying within friendships is one of the toughest tests for our mental and emotional well-being. Our natural response is usually to fight back or, at the very least, to hold deep resentment. However, Leviticus 19:18 sets a very different standard. This command does not mean allowing ourselves to be mistreated, but rather an invitation to break the cycle of hatred. When we repay evil with evil, we unknowingly allow the offender to control our character and drag us down to the same level.
When we realize that our worth comes from God, we gain the strength not to hold grudges. Forgiving does not mean justifying wrong behavior, but freeing our hearts from the poison of bitterness. By choosing not to retaliate, you demonstrate true class as someone who carries the character of God’s Kingdom—a character stronger than anger and emotional wounds. Self-control in the midst of provocation is a real mark of spiritual maturity.
Loving our enemies is indeed not easy, but it is this kind of love that sets God’s children apart. It is love that is not born from fleeting emotions, but from a decision to live rightly before God. When you choose love over revenge, you are protecting your heart and keeping your life whole.
What To Do?
1. Get used to starting with small things without waiting for big goals or instant change.
2. Honestly evaluate yourself so you can better understand your life process and continue growing in God.
3. Build consistency in your life plans without waiting for strong motivation to begin good habits.
