Today’s Devotional Title:
True Friendship Brings Love
“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
— Proverbs 18:24
We live in an era where popularity is often measured by the number of followers we have or how many people like our posts. But Proverbs 18:24 gives a clear warning: having many friends doesn’t automatically make life safe. In fact, the wrong friendships can lead us into “disaster”—poor decisions, emotional wounds, or a life direction that drifts away from God.
Many young people get trapped in unhealthy friendships because they’re afraid of being lonely or want to feel accepted. But having one or two friends who truly know your heart is far more valuable than being surrounded by people who only know your “mask.” A true friend doesn’t just show up in happy moments, but stays when you fall and struggle.
When people disappoint or leave because of their limitations, Jesus remains the friend who never walks away. He knows every weakness we have, yet still chooses to love us and stay faithful. When we build a close relationship with Him, we learn how to become true friends to others. Healthy friendships—with God and with the right people—will guard our steps and keep our lives on the right path.
What to Do?
1. Evaluate your friendships and make sure your circle draws you closer to God.
2. Strengthen your personal relationship with God so you can choose and maintain friendships wisely.
3. Be a good friend by living in love, faithfulness, and honesty.
