Living Right, Mary Magdalene Style

Then Jesus spoke to the people again, saying: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
📖 John 8:12

In The Chosen series, one of the most heart-touching characters is Mary Magdalene. She is portrayed as someone who once fell into darkness, but was later restored by Jesus. From her story, we learn that the best way to thank God for His grace is by choosing to live rightly—leaving the past behind and walking in the light.

Mary Magdalene didn’t just express gratitude with words, but with a new way of life. She faithfully followed Jesus, even though she had to leave behind old habits and face the cynical views of others. This shows that true gratitude is not merely spoken, but is a commitment to live according to God’s will.

As young people, we may also have a “past” or habits that pull us away from God. But just like Mary, we can choose to change. Living rightly means bravely saying “enough” to things that make us stumble, and beginning to walk in ways that honor God.

In the end, living rightly becomes a powerful testimony. Others can see real change in us, and that becomes proof that God is at work. That is the most beautiful way to say “thank you” to God—not only through words, but through a life that is right and faithful.

What to Do:
1. Reflect on the things you need to leave behind so you can live more rightly.
2. Take one small step today to walk in the light (for example: be honest, pray, or help someone).
3. Let your life transformation be a real expression of gratitude to God.
