Today’s devotion is titled:
A Heart That Gives
“Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
— Hebrews 13:16
Have you ever thought that giving is not just an act of kindness, but also an act of worship? In God’s eyes, giving is more than just a social gesture—it’s part of our worship to Him. When we give with a sincere heart, we are offering something precious to God—not only to help others but also to glorify Him.
Often, we think worship only happens when we sing, pray, or sit quietly in church. But the Bible reminds us that every time we give with a willing heart—whether it’s our time, attention, energy, or material blessings—we are offering a “sacrifice” that pleases God. Giving becomes an expression of worship because in it, there is love and sacrifice.
Giving is not about how much we give, but how much our heart desires to honor God through it. Jesus Himself gave His life as the ultimate act of worship and obedience to the Father (Philippians 2:8). That is the truest example of a giving heart—not out of obligation, but out of pure love.
So when you give, don’t do it out of pressure, fear, or pride. Give because you want to bring joy to God’s heart. In His eyes, a small gift given sincerely is far more valuable than a large one given without love. A heart that gives is a heart that worships.
What to Do:
1. Shift Your Perspective: See giving not as an obligation, but as part of your worship to God.
2. Check Your Motives: “Am I giving to be seen by others, or to please God?”
3. Practice Heart-Giving: Start small — pray for a friend, give your time, or share what you have with joy.
