Today’s devotion is titled:
Sweet to Your Ears, Lord
“May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
— Psalm 19:14
Did you know that every word we speak is clearly heard by God? Some words are beautiful and bring joy to His heart, while others can cause pain. This psalm reminds us that words and thoughts spoken with sincerity can become worship that pleases the Lord.
Often, we get caught up in negative speech—harsh words, gossip, body shaming, or sarcastic comments on social media. It may sound normal to human ears, but it’s not “sweet” to God’s ears. On the other hand, words filled with love, heartfelt prayers, and praises that come from a pure heart are melodies that delight Him.
God isn’t impressed only by a beautiful singing voice; He loves a heart that truly desires to worship Him. Even a simple prayer, when spoken with honesty and love, sounds like a sweet melody to His ears.
So, let every word that comes from our mouths be pleasing to Him. Let our speech become more than communication—let it be worship. Because words that flow from a pure heart are always sweet to the Lord.
What to Do:
1. Check your words. Ask yourself: “If God hears this, is it sweet or bitter?”
2. Practice positivity. Use words that build others up—in conversations and on social media.
3. Learn simple prayers. Speak sincere words to God every day, even if they’re short.
