Today’s Devotional:
A Dry Lifestyle, but Impactful

“John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.”
— Matthew 3:4

John the Baptist lived in the wilderness. His clothes were simple, and his food was far from fancy. Yet, from that quiet place and minimalist lifestyle, he proclaimed repentance and prepared the way for the Messiah.
John wasn’t busy trying to look cool or go viral. He stayed focused on his mission. He didn’t live for comfort—he lived for truth. His lifestyle might have looked “plain” or “uncool” by the world’s standards, but his impact shook a generation.
Gen Z lives in a world filled with lifestyle choices: aesthetic, trendy, and fast-paced. But John reminds us that simplicity can be powerful. Minimalism doesn’t mean “less”—it means “enough.” And “enough,” when directed toward God’s purpose, can bring great impact.
God isn’t looking for the most stylish person, but for the most faithful one. John didn’t have a stage, but he had a voice—and that voice changed history.

What To Do:
1. Simplify to Refocus
Choose one area of your lifestyle to simplify this week shopping, content consumption, or routines. Use the space you create to draw closer to God.
2. Write Mission, Not Image
In your journal, write: “What is God calling me to do, not just to display?” Focus your energy on impact, not impression.
3. Dare to Be “Dry” for Truth
Don’t be afraid if your lifestyle doesn’t always match the trends. If it brings you closer to God and your calling, that’s more than enough.
