Sorrow Turned Into Joy
Ruth 4:14–15
“The women said to Naomi: ‘Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.’”
Have you ever felt really sad when you lost a favorite toy, a pet, or when a friend suddenly didn’t want to be your friend anymore? It hurts so much, right—like no one understands or loves you.
Losing something precious can truly break our hearts. That sadness often makes us feel alone and hopeless.
Naomi also went through deep sorrow. She lost her husband and her two sons, and her life felt empty. But God did not let Naomi stay in grief forever. Through her faithful daughter-in-law Ruth, God gave her a grandson who brought new joy to her life. Her sorrow was turned into beautiful comfort.
Naomi’s story teaches us that sadness can be heavy, but God never lets His children remain in sorrow forever. Just as God used Ruth to comfort Naomi, He can also use family, friends, or even little surprises to comfort us.
Truth Junior friends, when you feel sad, don’t lose hope. Believe that God is able to help in ways we could never expect and turn sorrow into joy.
