Faithful Even When It’s Hard

Ruth 1:16
“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.’”

Have you ever found it hard to stay faithful? For example, you promised to study every day, but then got tempted to play games. Or you told your parents you would help them, but ended up choosing to watch TV instead.

Often, we break promises or fail to stay faithful because something else seems more fun. But when we aren’t faithful, others may feel disappointed, and deep down we also don’t feel good about it.

Ruth went through something very difficult. She lost people she deeply loved—her husband and father-in-law. Ruth could have gone back to her hometown, like her sister-in-law Orpah did. But Ruth chose a different path. She decided to remain faithful to her mother-in-law Naomi and follow her life’s journey. Ruth even said with great faith, “Your people will be my people, and your God my God.” Wow—that was a powerful proof of love and faithfulness!

Why was Ruth able to do that? Because she trusted in the God Naomi worshiped. Her love for Naomi was born out of her faith in God. And Ruth’s faithfulness was used by God to bring great blessings to her family—and even to the whole world.

So, Truth Junior friends, let’s learn from Ruth to stay faithful even when it’s hard: faithful to God, faithful to our family, and faithful to the promises we make. Believe this—faithfulness that is born out of faith is always precious in God’s eyes, and He can use it to bring blessings to others.
