God Answers Prayer

1 Samuel 1:27
“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.”

Have you ever asked your parents for something, but had to wait a long time? Maybe for a toy, a bicycle, or a trip. It doesn’t feel good, right? Your heart feels sad, and you wonder, “When will I finally get it?”

Hannah experienced the same thing. She longed for a child, but for many years her prayer wasn’t answered. Every year she went to the house of the Lord and prayed earnestly. She also made a vow—a special promise to God. A vow isn’t an ordinary promise; it must be kept because it is made to God. Hannah said, “Lord, if You give me a son, I will dedicate him to serve You for his whole life.” Her prayer was so sincere that Eli the priest said, “Go in peace. May God grant your request.”

And it happened—God heard Hannah’s prayer. She gave birth to a son and named him Samuel, which means “I asked him from the Lord.” Hannah’s heart was filled with joy, because God answered the prayer she had waited so long for. And when Samuel was old enough, Hannah kept her promise: she brought him to the house of the Lord to serve there. From a child born through a mother’s prayer, God raised Samuel to be a great prophet and leader of Israel.

Friends, from Hannah we learn that every gift from God actually belongs to Him. Hannah was not selfish—she remained faithful to her vow. Her prayer was answered, but she remembered to give Samuel back to the Lord. This is similar to Abraham, who was willing to offer Isaac.

So, friends, let’s learn from Hannah. Sincere prayers will surely be answered by God, even if we must wait. But don’t forget—when God gives us something, we should also faithfully give back by offering our lives to serve Him.
