Brave Because of God

Judges 4:4
“Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.”

Have you ever felt afraid when facing something big? Like speaking in front of the class, playing in a sports match, or taking an exam? Your heart beats fast, your hands get cold, and you feel like running away, right? Everyone has felt that way before.

Long ago, the Israelites were also very afraid. They were oppressed by an evil king named Jabin and his commander Sisera, who had 900 iron chariots—imagine having to fight against hundreds of tanks! But in the middle of their fear, God raised up Deborah, a prophetess and a woman leader who believed that God would surely help His people. God gave a message through Deborah for a soldier named Barak to lead the army against Sisera.

Strangely, Barak was the one who was afraid. He said, “I will only go if Deborah goes with me.” And this was coming from a soldier! But Deborah was brave to go with him because she trusted God. And it was true—God gave victory to Israel, even through another woman named Jael.

From Deborah’s story, we can see that true courage doesn’t come from having a strong body, but from a heart that trusts God. So, Truth Junior friends, even though you are still young, you can be brave to face hard lessons, make new friends, help others, or stand up for what is right—because God is the One who gives us courage.

Remember, when we are willing to obey God, both boys and girls can be used by Him to do great things. We can be brave, not because we are smart or strong, but because God is always with us.
