Today’s devotional is titled:
Winning with Kindness
Romans 12:21
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
One day, Andi was teased by a classmate because of his new glasses. His heart burned, he wanted to fight back with equally harsh words. But then he remembered his father’s advice: “You don’t have to repay evil with evil. Try to repay with kindness, it’s much stronger.”
The next day, Andi saw the same classmate struggling to carry a stack of books. Without saying a word, Andi helped him carry them. The classmate was surprised, then slowly smiled. Their relationship began to heal.
Truth Junior friends, even a small act of kindness can soften a hardened heart. When we repay evil with evil, problems only get bigger. But when we choose to respond with kindness, we are showing God’s way of working.
Jesus gave us the greatest example. When He was slandered, hurt, and even crucified, He didn’t retaliate. Instead, He prayed for those who harmed Him. That is the power of love, the kind that can change even the hardest of hearts.
God wants to use us to be peacemakers, by forgiving a friend who wronged us, helping someone who once disappointed us, or choosing kind words even when we’re upset.
Today, remember that kindness is the weapon God has given us to fight against evil. So, Truth Junior friends, let’s be true winners, not through revenge, but through love that transforms hearts.
