Collaboration, Not Competition
“So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another” – Romans 12:5
Each of us is created with unique talents, strengths, and weaknesses. Some may excel at public speaking, while others are more comfortable working behind the scenes. Some have a leader’s spirit, and others have a servant’s heart. If we constantly view others as competitors, we will only waste energy on something that does not build us up.
Imagine a soccer team where every player wants to be the goal scorer. Who will be the goalkeeper? Who will defend? Who will pass the ball? The team will never succeed if everyone is only focused on personal glory. On the contrary, when each player understands their role and works together, they can achieve a victory that would be impossible alone.
This is the essence of what Paul says in Romans 12. We are all members of one body of Christ. And each member has a different role. The thumb cannot do the work of the eye, and the ear cannot do the work of the hand. Every part has an important function. The beauty and strength of the body lie in the fact that all parts work together.
What to do?
1. Change your mindset
2. Value every role that exists
3. Help those who are weak
