Today’s Devotional is titled:
Lazy but Given Skills?
“I remember Your wonderful works of old and consider all Your mighty acts.” – Psalm 77:12
Have we ever been lazy, but God still gave us talents and opportunities? We want to be productive, but we often run out of motivation. Interestingly, God still entrusts us with skills, whether it’s singing, teaching, writing, or simply being able to listen to others well.
Look at Moses. He was initially insecure (Exodus 4:10), saying he was “not eloquent,” but God still used him to lead Israel. Or Jeremiah, who felt “too young” (Jeremiah 1:6), but God called him to be a prophet to the nations.
We often feel inadequate, lazy, or incapable, but God still gives us skills and opportunities. The problem? Sometimes we waste them because we’re lazy, afraid of failure, or feel we’re not good enough. Yet God can use our skills even if they’re ordinary to be a blessing.
What to Do?
1. Stop complaining about being lazy! Instead of staying in your comfort zone, start with small things. Moses started with just a staff, but eventually parted the sea!
2. Don’t compare yourself to others because your talents are unique they don’t have to be like someone else’s. What matters is using them, not keeping them hidden.
3. Ask God: “How can I be used?” Maybe through simple things like helping a friend in need, participating in ministry, or simply being faithful in your daily work.
God isn’t looking for great people, but people who are willing to be used, even when they’re feeling lazy.
So, the skills have been given it’s just a matter of whether we’re willing to move or not.
