Today’s Devotional is titled:
From Flexing to Blessing
“Do not consider yourself wise; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.” – Proverbs 3:7
In the age of social media, flexing (showing off) has become commonplace. We often pretend to show off our achievements, appearance, or wealth in order to gain recognition. But did you know? This habit can actually distance us from God’s true blessings.
God teaches a different principle: “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted” (Matthew 23:12). Even as we seek human praise, we are called to live humbly and use everything we have to be a blessing to others.
Look at the example of Jesus. Though He had all power, He chose to serve, even washing the feet of His disciples (John 13:1–17). His radical obedience transformed pride into love and selfishness into sacrifice.
What to do
1. Evaluate yourself before posting anything on social media is what you’re posting for show or to be a blessing?
2. Use your talents to serve; redirect the energy you use to seek attention into acts of love to help those in need, or use your creativity to glorify God.
3. Live humbly, remembering that everything we have is a gift and blessing from God.
