Becoming Peaceful
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—” – Ephesians 6:1–2
Truth Juniors, before we were even born into this world, we lived in our mother’s womb for about nine months. During that time, our mother carried us everywhere she went. She took care of her health, ate nutritious food, and prepared everything so that we could be born safely. When we were finally born, our father and mother rejoiced because they received a blessing from God—a healthy baby, safe and sound.
Being a parent is not easy. There is no special school to teach someone how to become a parent. Our parents also learn step by step how to raise us well. That’s why it’s natural that sometimes they make mistakes. But that doesn’t mean we should argue, complain, or be rude to them. We must still obey and listen to their advice.
Today’s verse reminds us to obey our parents. Why? Because it is a direct command from God. Honoring our father and mother is one way we show love and care for them. Just imagine—if all children in the world obeyed their parents, the world would surely feel more peaceful and joyful.
Not only at home, but we should also honor and respect those who are older than us. For example, our teachers at school. If we are respectful and obedient to our teachers, the classroom will feel more pleasant and full of joy.
So, Truth Juniors, let’s be children who obey—both at home and at school. Let’s help create peace wherever we are. By doing this, we are already living out God’s command.
