The Shore of Galilee at Your Desk
“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19
Imagine Peter a regular fisherman whose life drastically changed after Jesus called him. He didn’t instantly become a “hero of faith,” but he grew through his mistakes, boldness, and loyalty. You’re on that journey too still searching for direction, yet full of potential if you’re willing to serve faithfully.
Peter was called by Jesus in the middle of his daily work on a boat, with his nets, on the shore. God doesn’t wait for us at the altar; He comes into our everyday spaces. Your campus or workplace might just be your modern-day “Shore of Galilee.” God still calls us to serve not by abandoning our work, but by giving new meaning to what we do.
Even though Peter denied Jesus, God didn’t give up on him. He was restored and used powerfully. You might feel like a failure sometimes, unworthy, or unsure of your life’s direction. But ministry doesn’t demand perfection only a heart willing to grow and obey. God can use you even in your imperfection.
In the book of Acts, Peter boldly preached in public. But that journey started when he was willing to leave his nets and follow God’s call. On campus or at work, you may not yet know your specific calling but if you start small, by being honest, caring, and responsible, your ministry has already begun.
What to Do:
1. Write down one daily activity at campus or work (e.g., preparing reports, giving presentations, doing group work), and say in your heart: “Lord, I do this for You.”
2. Take the courage to encourage one person today through a chat, face-to-face moment, or short message. Be a fisher of hearts through simple acts of love and care.
