Today’s Devotional is titled:
Freedom = A New Direction
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” – Ephesians 5:8
Imagine being on a highway with no signs, no GPS, and every direction looks the same. You’re free to drive, but without direction, you’ll end up lost. That’s what life is like without God.
Freedom in Christ isn’t the end, it’s the beginning of a life with a new direction. We no longer live aimlessly, because now we know where we’re headed. We’re not just “free from” something, we’re also “free for” something: free to love, serve, and be a light.
Take Paul, for example. He was once free to pursue what he thought was right, but without divine direction. After encountering Christ, his life’s direction changed completely from persecutor of believers to a loving bearer of the Gospel.
Spiritual freedom is seen in a life with changed direction. We can’t keep saying “I’m free” if our lives are still dark and fruitless.
What to Do:
1. Reflect: Is the direction of your life aligned with the light of Christ?
2. Choose one concrete step today to be a light, whether it’s encouraging someone, praying for a friend, or helping sincerely.
