Today’s Devotional is titled:
When Freedom Becomes an Excuse to Go Wild

“‘I have the right to do anything,’ you say, but not everything is beneficial…” – 1 Corinthians 6:12a

Here’s an interesting illustration: a bird is released from its cage. But because it’s so used to being confined, it just sits there, confused, and eventually returns to the cage. Freedom is good, but freedom without direction and control can lead us astray.

Many of us think freedom means doing whatever we want. But not every desire leads to good. Spiritual freedom doesn’t mean we’re free to take God’s grace for granted when we fall into sin. Instead, it’s a call to live with greater sensitivity and responsibility.

For example, some young people might say, “God understands… I’m only human.” That statement is true, but it’s often used as a shield to justify staying in sin. Yet God doesn’t call us to abuse His grace. He calls us to be transformed by it.

What to Do:
1. Reevaluate: Is there any kind of “freedom” you’re currently living in that is actually harming your relationship with God?
2. Write down one thing you need to change, and sincerely pray for God’s help to live more responsibly.
